B&B Miramare

I'm writing this more as a report than a review. I honestly wouldn't give it any stars if the system allowed that. Please read the Google and TripAdvisor reviews carefully, and don't rely only on the first Booking.com results. Even older reviews describe what still seems to be the reality: a terrible place. We left and found somewhere else to stay. The owner seems more interested in making money than looking after guests properly. The place felt like a hovel, with a strong smell of mold and dust. The air conditioning had apparently never been cleaned, and I wish I could share the photos from this summer's ordeal. 😑 Wi-Fi and parking cost extra. Breakfast was supposedly offered for the modest price of €110 a night, but there was no arrangement with a bar or any thought for guests with diabetes or food allergies. The products were opened and shared among guests, with no single-serving portions. A B&B in this condition should be closed. I don't understand why it's still open.

The owners are incredibly kind and helpful, and the beach is just around the corner. There's parking, plus sun loungers you can take with you to the beach. The accommodation itself is very basic and the bathroom is small, so don't expect a five-star hotel. There are plenty of photos, and you know what you're booking. By the entrance there's a coffee machine, packaged snacks, a fridge with juice and cold water, and a microwave. Outside, a little garden has a barbecue, two tables, and chairs. If all you need is somewhere simple to sleep and shower, and you keep your expectations modest, it works perfectly.

Mr. Giuseppe even went out of his way to find me somewhere to eat despite the late hour, and he gave me helpful recommendations. He and his wife are very kind, and the staff are friendly and accommodating. It's a peaceful, welcoming place just steps from the sea. I'd definitely recommend it.

I'm writing this as a warning: you can't rent out a place in this kind of condition. I wish I could post photos that show what the house was really like. I booked ten days, from 22 to 01 September 2020, for €800 for an adult and child. After arriving and seeing the state of the house, I was exhausted and so disappointed that I cut the trip short and went back to Rome, paying for the ferry twice. I left as soon as I could, on August 25th. The place was dirty and run down, more like a hovel. The inside and outside walls were crumbling, and there was a strong smell of mold and dust. The windows were dirty, and the curtains smelled strongly of dust. The window in the juniper room looked onto the owners' private inner garden, where they camped until two in the morning. The dogs were there too, and fortunately didn't dazzle, but they used the garden to do their business. The garden itself was neglected, with unkempt plants. By the entrance there was a completely rusty air conditioner. Breakfast was do-it-yourself: an electric coffee machine with pods and snacks tossed there from Eurospin that were expired. The fridge worked, but it was inside a sliding wardrobe with glass doors, and the microwave inside was dirty.
