Our visit was brief, but we still had enough time to admire the little village of Specchia. It’s in the province of Lecce, halfway between the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, and is counted among Italy’s most beautiful villages.

The castle is a real highlight of this 16th-century place, and the town around it is also considered one of Italy’s most beautiful villages. Young people often gather in the square out front and stay late into the night. Definitely worth a visit.
Specchia is enchanting, beautiful, and magical, just like it always is for me. I returned once again last night, 19/08/22, and had a wonderful evening listening to pizzica with the excellent "Calanti". The festival was fantastically organized, and for the first time I saw such honest prices at one: a glass of wine for 50 cents is unthinkable anywhere else. Congratulations to everyone. 👏🥰❤️
There’s nothing to visit apart from the inner atrium of the Martinucci café-pastry shop. A real disappointment for tourists.
From the terraces and the walkway along the walls, you can look out over the valley on one side and Piazza del Popolo on the other. Palazzo Protonobilissimo Risolo stands in Specchia's main square. Built in the 16th century on its own, it was later joined to other fortified buildings. It has had major conservation work and can now also be used as an event venue. Definitely worth a visit.
