Albergo La Sirenella

We had a great visit, thanks again! The people were lovely, and the views over Sperlonga and the beach were incredible. Such a beautiful place to stay. Highly recommend.

I wasn't a hotel guest. I'm writing about a lifeguard on the beach in front of the hotel, who I assume works there. I was walking past and checked my phone to see where I could rent an umbrella. I was standing, not sitting, and within seconds he came over and rudely told me to leave. I apologized, said I hadn't realized it was private and would go, but he smirked and said he didn't understand me. A little kindness can help someone, while an interaction like that can ruin their day. Sadly, he did the latter. I hate to say it, but I was the only Asian-looking person on the beach, and I wonder if he singled me out on purpose. After that, I don't think I'd ever stay at this hotel. By contrast, the lifeguards at the hotel next door, aurora, were polite and kind. They helped us and told us where to rent an umbrella at their hotel, even though we weren't guests.

The staff were amazing, and the rooms were OK. The kitchen was good, with light food, and there's a cool lounge with a piano plus a lovely terrace facing the sea. Free Wi-Fi and private parking are available too. Its spot right by the beautiful beach is a big draw, with a private bathing area and a great view of the upper town. The lower town is lively, full of shops, and the square near the hotel often has live music concerts.

The town itself is lovely, and there are plenty of other hotels by the beach, so I wouldn't recommend this one. My room was tiny, and the bed was easily the most uncomfortable I've ever slept in. There was nowhere by the bed to plug in and charge devices, and doors kept slamming in the middle of the night. Also, hotel guests don't get free use of the beach. Even sitting on the sand at the hotel's private beach costs 20€ per person.
