Agriturismo LUlivo In Fiore

The breakfast room downstairs is lovely, with cakes, yogurt, seasonal fruit, and cereal. The rooms are welcoming, tastefully furnished, and very well heated, and the functional bathrooms have plenty of hot water. This was our second stay at the agriturismo, and Stefania, the owner, was extremely kind. It’s very close to Spoleto.

The grounds looked beautiful, but we had a very poor stay and felt as if we were intruding. We were only passing through for one night. Check-in was set for 3 pm, and several calls asking whether we could leave our bags earlier went unanswered. We showed up at 1:30 pm instead. My friend tried speaking to Stefania from the balcony, but she stayed there rather than coming over. She spoke only Italian, despite English notes in the room, and when communication proved difficult she went back into the house instead of trying to work it out. I used a translation app, but the welcome still felt cold and there was little effort. The room was ready, though dirty, so we left our things and went out to explore. When we came back in the early evening, the room was freezing. We had to struggle to make ourselves understood before she switched on the heating. At about 11:30 PM, someone upstairs began shifting furniture as if moving house, then started a motorcycle parked in the garden, making a tremendous racket. Breakfast the next morning was also a letdown. There was no welcome or apparent effort, and the food was disgusting and mass-produced. She left two coffees on the counter rather than bringing them to the table, even though we were the only customers. There was no tour of the garden or grounds either. This wasn't what we expected from a place calling itself an "agritourism." The positive reviews from Italians are hard for me to trust, just look at their surnames. Anyone wanting a pleasant night should pay more and stay elsewhere, since this place is very expensive compared with other local accommodation. Stefania might do better selling tomatoes if she wants extra income. Her cats seemed to understand hospitality better than she did.

The room was spotless and beautifully furnished, and the location made it easy to reach Spoleto in just a few minutes and visit nearby attractions. We stayed in early September and felt at home straight away. Stefania was warm and helpful, and the breakfast was generous, with excellent fresh fruit. The quiet hills around the agriturismo were lovely, but our day there with family left us disappointed in a few ways. For a place like this, I expected breakfast to be homemade rather than packaged. The towels were very rough and didn't feel suitable for guests. The owner seemed friendly at first, but wasn't welcoming or helpful when we made some reasonable requests.
