Borgo della Marmotta - Farm Home

The setting is beautiful, among Umbrian hills and olive groves, and the old borgo buildings have plenty of charm. We spent four nights at Borgo Della Marmotta and found it peaceful, though parts of the property felt worn and could use a refresh for the price. It has a relaxed, rustic feel rather than a polished luxury one. The restaurant was a highlight: good food, reasonable prices and enough variety. We ate there more than once and were happy each time. Breakfast was decent, but exactly the same all four days, so it got dull. The capsule coffee felt out of place in a region with great coffee everywhere. If you want a quiet, scenic stay and don't mind some wear and tear, it's a charming place to unwind, as long as you set your expectations accordingly.

I stayed here while hiking the St Francis Way and really enjoyed the resort's atmosphere. Reception was welcoming and accommodating, and my room was spacious and comfortable, with a very comfortable bed. Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were excellent. I also enjoyed the pool and spa, where I had a great massage.

The good points easily outweighed the drawbacks during our five nights at Borgo della Marmotta. The property is beautiful, and our superior room was clean, simple and cozy. The pool area was lovely, the breakfast spread was nice, with meats, cheeses, fruit, baked goods and coffee, and the staff were warm and helpful. Thanks to Luca for making our stay special. The mattress was very firm, which is just personal preference, and the air conditioning had ongoing problems. The staff were responsive and worked to sort those out, which we appreciated. Dinner was only okay, and we had better meals outside the hotel. We had a fantastic time and will definitely return on our next trip to Umbria.

Rosemary and wisteria growing all over the place made for spectacular surroundings, and the warm, gracious staff helped make our stay deeply restful. Luana was wonderful when checking us in and out. The restaurant on site serves delicious Umbrian specialties and wine, definitely worth trying. Highly recommended.
