The route there is a tough one, with narrow stretches and uphill sections. Once at the fortress, the medieval-style setting is lovely and evocative. The apartments have private bathrooms with hairdryers, though there’s no shower gel, and the rooms are tidy but a bit dusty. There’s also a shared kitchen with a sink, dishwasher, and working stovetop. The spa has a four-person jacuzzi, a Swedish sauna, and a Turkish sauna for up to three people at a time. Wi-Fi is free in the apartments.

Fresh air and a mild climate make this a relaxing place throughout the year. It’s well connected with Terni for services and close to the medieval city of Spoleto. A charming spot.
