Villa della Genga Country Houses

I don’t usually write negative reviews, but I had to share what happened at Villa delle Genga for future guests. We booked an apartment through Booking.com in april 2021 for 10 nights in August and received confirmation. We made our plans and looked forward to Italy and our well deserved holiday for months. A few weeks before we were due to leave, Booking.com emailed to say there was a double booking at Villa della Genga and we couldn’t come. We were baffled and first thought the message might be fake. After contacting Booking.com and Villa della Genga, both started pointing fingers at each other. Neither accepted blame, and we were left with nothing, without even an apology or explanation. I can only imagine Villa della Genga could rent our appartment for the full two weeks and didn’t find our 10 nights interesting enough, but I have no proof and can’t think of another explanation. Be careful booking here. They didn’t take our reservation seriously, even though we’d booked months ahead. I hesitated before posting this, but we felt awful about it. Our kids were crying and we were extremely disappointed, both about losing the holiday and because Booking.com and Villa della Genga did nothing for us. To the management of Villa della Genga, your arrogance is shocking. I’ll never book again, and I hope many people who read this will be wary. Thanks for ruining our holiday!

We came away with 12 bottles of the Cerguepapa monocultivar olive oil, which says a lot about how much we liked it. Federico welcomed us and showed us to the restaurant for a tasting. The oil was extraordinary, top quality, and such a fantastic find. The setting is splendid too. Highly recommended!

We slept really well, and everything was looked after with such care. The service had a courtesy you hardly come across anymore. The food was exceptional, especially the bruschetta, which we ate as if there were no tomorrow, and the olive oil was delicious. Such a peaceful, serene place. We’ll definitely be back.

The olive oil is a must, with excellent quality and a great range of cultivars for people who know their oil. The estate sits among greenery and still has the elegance of its long history. It’s recently been restored, with real care given to the details. A unique experience.
