Hotel Bella Vista

I was working overseas and spent a night here in July 2023. The balcony views from my room were breathtaking, the menu was excellent, and the staff’s service was unmatched. This is one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in, anywhere. I’d fly back to Italy to return and spend time in Trafoi. If you only speak English, you’ll be fine. If you’re in northern Italy, you really should give this place a try.

Every part of our stay at Bellavista went beyond what we expected. The surrounding mountains are majestic, and they hold the remarkable history of legendary skiing champion Gustav Thöni. It all felt magical, and we were at home from the moment we arrived, welcomed into a loving and exceptional family. Our heartfelt thanks to Stephan and Petra for their generosity and care. They always had a smile and priceless advice to make our stay better, and seemed to anticipate what we needed. Each moment was wonderful, from the chef’s daily dishes, prepared with top ingredients and close attention to detail, to the scenery that lifted our spirits.

The hotel is a great base for the Stelvio Pass, arguably the world’s best driving road. I’ve stayed here before and will again. It suits families, couples, really anyone. The staff are friendly, attentive, and always around, and speak English, German, Italian, and other languages. The attention to detail and quality are hard to find in this part of the Italian Alps. Their Michelin chef always turned out amazing dishes, and even the kids enjoyed mealtimes.

Families will find plenty for kids here, from the buffet and activities to indoor play spaces for rainy weather. The pool was even reopened late for the children, so parents could have time to relax. Our rooms were spacious and clean, with stunning Ortler mountain views, and those with private terrace whirlpools offer a lovely way to unwind after a hike. The food was sensational, on a par with star-rated restaurants. We recommend half board for the exquisite five-course dinners. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel offered a wide range of things to do, including hiking, sports, and excellent childcare. It costs more, but the service, setting, and experience made it worthwhile for us. We felt completely at ease and are already looking forward to coming back. Our stay at Bella Vista Hotel was exceptional.
