The sea-view rooms have a nice outlook, and the large balcony has a table. The furnishings are old, and the WiFi needed regular restarts to keep working. Air conditioning doesn’t reach the hallway bunk-bed rooms. The kitchen has no basics like olive oil, salt, or pepper, so bring your own. Staff kindly provided safety barriers for the bunk beds, but there’s no daily cleaning. The local beaches are small and disappointing next to Sardinia’s amazing beaches, so don’t stay here if you want to walk to good beaches. La Pelosa is a simple drive away, or a very hot walk or bus ride, and it’s famous and very crowded. The buffet and pool at the hotel next door cost extra, but are worth paying for. The immediate facilities of la vela are sad and neglected.

The location made it easy to get to all the main sights, just a few minutes away by car. We stayed in a studio with a garden, and the roomy, comfortable veranda was such a treat. The bathroom worked really well, though the kitchen was a little basic. When we mentioned we needed a frying pan, one was brought over straight away. The woman who greeted us was so kind and shared useful tips for exploring the area. We had a great stay and would happily recommend it.
