Hotel Della Torre

We arrived with two tired children after deciding on a spontaneous extension to our Lake Maggiore trip. The online photos and room description had led us to expect a large pool and a whirlpool-bathtub, but the room was small, with neither a bathtub nor a whirlpool-bathtub, just a very narrow shower. The wide-angle photos also made the rooms look much bigger than they were. Ours faced the main road and was quite noisy. Check-in began pleasantly, but when we explained the mismatch, the staff were dismissive and blamed us for booking the “wrong room.” One staff member even walked away and left us alone at reception mid-conversation. We had been willing to spend considerably more on dinner, breakfast, and parking, around 1.5 times the room price altogether, but after that interaction we no longer wanted to. Once we decided not to stay, they said we had to pay the full amount and treated us very unfriendly. Nobody tried to find a reasonable solution. They also wouldn’t let us leave with the hotel keycard after we’d said we weren’t willing to spend any more money there. A professional, straightforward response could have made a real difference. As it was, the experience left us very disappointed, and we wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We had a very pleasant vacation here and were really happy with the hotel. The location is great, just a three-minute walk from the water and the boat for the other islands. Our spacious room had a comfortable mattress and pillows, plus a nice balcony where we enjoyed wine and even dinner in the evening. The staff were friendly and helpful, with good tips and information. Breakfast was warm and could, with fresh local sweet treats each day and fresh fruit. The pool was OK for sunbathing, though it isn’t really deep enough for swimming. Parking is available at the hotel for a daily charge, and the city tax was on top of that. We didn’t know about the tax beforehand, so it would’ve been better if reception had told us.

Hotel Della Torre was just right for the relaxing, scenic and romantic end to our Italian trip. My husband and I spent our last few days in Stresa there, and the lake views from our room’s small terrace were stunning. It was a lovely spot for morning lattes and evening wine. The room was clean and charming, and breakfast each morning was delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. The hotel is right by Lake Maggiore, in a quiet spot just a few feet from the Isola Bella ferry stop. It’s about a 20 minute walk into town. September was a bit chilly, so we only spent a few hours by the pool, but it’s a nice place to read and relax, and the bar is a welcome touch. We highly recommend Hotel Della Torre and hope to return.

We had a great stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and made an effort to accommodate us. Breakfast was a buffet with a decent range, and parking depended on availability. The room was clean and tidy with classic decor. My only complaint was the A/C, which was dirty and smelled unpleasant. Stresa center is about a 20 min. walk away.
