Atlantis Bay - The Leading Hotel of the World

The balcony at Atlantis Bay gave us stunning views and became the setting for one of the most important moments of our lives. The hotel truly felt like a home away from home, and we’ll always hold it close to our hearts. I had booked the Presidential Suite directly with the hotel for a special occasion: I planned to propose to my girlfriend. Before booking, I spoke with several team members to make sure everything would be right. Carlotta, the Event Coordinator, helped organise the details behind the scenes, including a violinist, décor company, and helium balloons. Cristina played violin during the proposal and made the moment even more magical than I’d imagined. We were badly delayed getting into Catania Airport, but the hotel’s driver waited over four hours without complaint and greeted us warmly. The staff made us feel relaxed as soon as we arrived. Everyone helped keep the proposal secret and supported me throughout the stay. The Concierge and Front Desk teams were especially helpful with restaurants, bars, and recommendations, and greeted us warmly every time. Their service felt personal, as though they took time to know us rather than treating us like just another hotel guest. A special thank you to Giuseppe at the Front Desk, Giulia and Daniele from Concierge, Silvia and Davide at the Bar, Carlotta, and Cristina. Francesca Pinto deserves an especially heartfelt thank you. She handled a few issues we encountered with kindness, grace, and professionalism. She let me keep the room keyring as a reminder of the hotel and the exact spot where I proposed. She also offered my partner and me complimentary spa massages, then arranged for us to use a beautifully refurbished room with a huge balcony before our airport trip, so we could shower, relax, and get ready after the spa. That kind of care and hospitality is incredibly rare. We can’t thank the whole team enough. We’ll absolutely return to Atlantis Bay.

We loved the patio, where we could relax and watch the ocean in the evenings, and our room was just as beautiful as the stunning property. The restaurant was wonderful, with real care and passion coming through in every dish. Carmelo’s piano playing and singing gave the stay a special touch and made it even more memorable.

Atlantis Bay is what a 5 star hotel should be. It sits by the sea below Taormina, which is up on the hill. It’s a five-minute walk to the lift, which costs 10€ per person and takes about five minutes to ride up to town. There’s an outdoor pool, sun beds, towels, free sun protection cream, lifeguards, and waiters. You can also swim in the sea. The room was cosy and clean, with lovely design, a beautiful terrace, and a spectacular view. It had two TVs, a Nespresso machine, sparkling wine, fruit, sweets, bottled water each day, a mini bar, and cosmetics. The hotel has its own parking, though I still hadn’t paid and didn’t know the cost. The service was just wonderful. Pancrazio did an excellent job, and so did everyone else, including Stefanno, Hamza, and the lovely women at reception. Breakfast had plenty of choices, both buffet and a la carte, and everything was tasty. The ingredients seemed excellent quality. There’s dinner service too, but we didn’t use it because you’re never hungry in Sicilia. So, no complaints about the hotel. It’s a lovely place to relax, and our stay was excellent. Recommended. One thing to be careful about is driving in Sicily. I live in a capital city where people drive like crazy, so I felt at home, but the style here is a bit different. Drivers can seem relaxed, yet go very fast in places where they should slow down. I saw several extremely dangerous, nearly terrible collision situations. There aren’t sidewalks, and tourists can lose focus, so you don’t want to ruin your vacation by hitting someone with a car. Be extra careful, expect anything, think and react fast, and don’t be afraid. People with weak driving skills might be afraid to drive. They will eat you alive.

The buffet breakfast was a highlight, with an endless variety of lovely food. We’ve travelled the world, and Atlantis Bay Taormina is hands down the best hotel we’ve stayed at. Our room was a good size, with a very large balcony and the best views. The staff were friendly and attentive, especially Federica the manager and the cleaners. They cleaned the room twice a day and went above and beyond. We’ll definitely be back.
