The best part of our Taormina trip was the cooking class at Villa Lawrence. We made an appetizer, fresh pasta, and a fantastic main course with local ingredients, and Chef Elvera and her assistant Linda made the process easy and fun. They were patient and shared plenty about Sicilian food. Louisa welcomed us like we were at home, and the meal had that lovely family feel. The villa is gorgeous, with so much history and incredible views. D.H. Lawrence stayed there and wrote “The Snake” after seeing one in the garden, which made the place feel even more special. We still talk about the experience, and we'll be making the recipes at home.

The patio at Villa Lawrence looks out over the sea, and Luisa made us feel very welcome. Our family of four enjoyed the private class with her and her staff. The Sicilian dishes were straightforward to prepare, the wine was delicious, and the setting was spectacular. We'd happily recommend it.

Good food, music, friendliness, and history all come together here. Louisa's warm hospitality and the activities offered at the villa make it deserve its five stars, perhaps even more. The cooking classes are simple and traditional, and sharing a meal at the table in this timeless place really feels like stepping into authentic Sicily. I'd recommend a visit to anyone who enjoys those things.
