Sea Life - Taormina

My husband and I booked this apartment for our honeymoon in Taormina from November 10 through November 13, drawn by the beautiful infinity pool. Almost every photo the owner posted focuses on it, and I imagine that's a major reason people book. We only found out at check-in that the pool had been closed nearly a week earlier. We were never told before traveling. If the listing highlights the pool so heavily, customers should be informed ahead of time. The apartment didn't have much else going for it, not even a living room table. Although it says it sleeps several people, one room is across the hall and isn't attached to the apartment, and another is across the top hall, also separate. It felt like extreme false advertising compared with what we booked. We requested a refund through VRBO and left within half an hour, as VRBO said we needed to do to receive one. We were at the apartment for only an hour, went to dinner, and left shortly afterward. The host said he'd refunded everything except a cleaning fee. I have no idea what that fee was for when we barely spent any time there. I waited to write this because I wanted to give the owner a chance to do the right thing. Don't stay here. Maybe the infinity pool will be available when you arrive, maybe it won't, and you won't know until then. There are lots of other beautiful places in Taormina, so find one and stay clear of this.
