The Ashbee Hotel - The Leading Hotels of the World

The view was amazing, and the hotel itself was truly beautiful. Diana at the front desk gave us great recommendations for Taormina and our next stop, Ortigia. The sandwiches and pizza she suggested were amazing, thank you for everything! Carlo at the front was very helpful too, as was everyone else. Breakfast was great as well.

Breakfast on the villa roof came with wonderful views of the surrounding area, and the food was first class, with delicious local specialties served in style. Reception was friendly, efficient, and helpful. This spacious, exclusive villa has just 24 rooms. We had a basic room, but it was still lovely, comfortable, and well appointed, with a beautiful outdoor patio. I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world in my lifetime, and this is one of the most beautiful, certainly among the top two or three. If you can afford it, this is the place to stay.

We came back from the beach to find all the euro cash in our backpack gone. We’d left it in a pocket instead of using the safe, which was our mistake, but the money wasn’t lying out in the open. Someone had to open several zippers and rummage through the bag to find it. The maid assigned to our room had passed us on her way to clean it as we were leaving. We spoke to the manager, who checked the security cameras and confirmed she was the only person besides us to enter the room. He basically said he had to stand by his staff and that we were stupid not to use the safe. I know we should have used it, and we won’t make that mistake again, but I expected better from a five-star resort. I wouldn’t stay here, and honestly I wouldn’t trust the safes either. I definitely don’t trust the staff.

The views are stunning, and Ashbee is in a fantastic spot right by the main drag with its restaurants and shops. We had excellent interactions with everyone at the hotel, especially Bruno, Denise, and Ivana, as well as the staff at St. George Restaurant. A wonderful visit, and I’d definitely recommend staying here.
