Bed and Breakfast Silvana

We booked two months in advance, but the owner called one week before our stay and backed out of the agreement to host us. We were left without accommodation shortly before the trip. I wouldn't rely on this B&B.

Silvana is intelligent and cultured, and I enjoyed chatting with her about local traditions and history. She also knows the area well and gave us helpful suggestions for places to visit and ways to discover the spectacular sea. Even sharing a house with her, we had complete tranquility and privacy. Parking is in a gated residential area, and she gives you the gate access along with keys to the apartment and room when you arrive. The room with an external bathroom beside the hallway didn't make the best first impression, but after our first night and a delicious breakfast with homemade jams, different each day, we quickly felt at home. At €110 a night for a triple room, this was one of the priciest B&Bs in Taranto. I've paid much less for a hotel.

The rooms are packed close together, and the bathroom is out in the hallway, separate from the bedroom, which is really inconvenient. Privacy is basically nonexistent, especially with the owner living in the complex. The double bed was actually a sofa bed. We left the light on, locked the door, and came back to find it switched off. The price was outrageous, €68 for one room for one night. Honestly, I wouldn't have paid even €10.
