Teglio has a charming, genuinely local feel, and this restaurant was open on a Monday, which was a plus. The wine list, with plenty of Nebbiolo, was pretty good, though I found the food average. My beef cheeks weren't warm, and I thought the buckwheat pasta was overrated. One note for the drive up from our villa overlooking Trescenda: the roads wind, and there's a speed camera in a 30 km zone as you enter Teglio.

The pizzoccheri at lunch was easily the best I've ever had. We were also made to feel very welcome by the warm staff, and the owner was gracious. They even sent us off with a little bag of homegrown apples.

We had such a nice hour here. The pizzoccheri was the best I've tried, and the dessert was just as good. I think it was made with saracena flour.
