Hotel Torre Del Sole

We stayed here from August 20- Sept10 last year and had an amazing time. The weather, food, sights, and people were all great, and I’d highly recommend it to family and friends. The breakfast had a great selection, and the food on the property was great too. Staff at the front desk, in cleaning, and in service were wonderful and always available. My daughter and her friend joined us a week later, and their only complaint was how far it was from the town center. We’re planning to return next year.

The view from my room on the 8 floor was amazing, but the room itself was really old. I booked well in advance for 2 persons and paid 600+ Euro for 4 nights. This was my only vacation, and I planned to stay with a friend. When I arrived, they acted as though I had booked for 1 person and demanded another 600 euro for the second person in my double room, which would have made the total 1200 Euro. But when you check prices on Booking, it looks like a fraud. I tried to show my booking and argue, but the administrator was really aggressive. I’d have left otherwise, but after spending 30+ hours getting to Italy from Ukraine, dealing with all this was a terrible start. The hotel is expensive, and the price doesn’t feel fair. We also booked a few extra rooms. There are real problems with taxis in Terracina, and the service didn’t match the money or my expectations. I felt unwelcome and stressed the whole time. They also said a sun-bed cost 16 euros even though we were staying at the hotel, then it turned out to be 8 euro per bed, with 2 beds for 16. If I’d really been staying alone, as they claimed, why would I need 1 extra sun-bed? It seems to me that they cheated on me. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone younger than 80.

The bathroom was very old and messy, and there was mold on the ceiling. Breakfast was horrible, with almost no choice: boiled egg, scrambled egg, and sausage, plus cookies and croissants that we weren’t even sure were made from food products. Even the coffee was impossible to drink. Since the food wasn’t edible, we had to buy something from the store. We were given one towel, and an extra one costs more per day. When we came back with food, reception wouldn’t lend us two spoons because of some policy against lending cutlery. I’ve never run into that anywhere else, but luckily a small restaurant near the hotel was friendly and lent them to us. You also have to wear a rubber cap to use the pool. I’ve never seen that rule at any hotel, especially a 4 star one. Worst hotel we’ve stayed in, strongly do not recommend.

The staff are amazingly friendly, and the food is incredible. It’s a little out of town, but definitely one of the best hotels in Terracina!
