The location is really good for skiing in the Pampaeago Obereggen area, but apart from that, this didn’t feel like an appealing hotel for families. For €900 for two nights in February, around €400 a day, I expected more. The hotel is big and old, maybe 20 or 30 years old. Some parts of the bedroom block have been renovated, but the lobby and many other areas look very old. Lunch and dinner times aren’t very kid-friendly. A 7 pm dinner is too late for small babies. The children’s menu is often the same and very limited, and for so much money I expected more food choices for kids from a standard family hotel. The restaurant manager was really nice and tried to accommodate all our wishes. The spa was very crowded, looked old, and wasn’t very functional or welcoming. These days money seems to have no value, but our stay wasn’t worth what we paid.

There’s plenty to do nearby, though you need a car or the free ski bus to get around. It’s a nice family hotel, and the included childcare starting from 6 months old is something you don’t often find at other hotels.

The food was good, the waiters were very nice, and the rooms were tidy. There was mold on the wall by the balcony door in my room, 304, which I noticed the next day. They removed it right after I asked. The swimming pool was great, with a warm paddling pool for children. But I can’t overlook the sick staff being allowed to work. We were a group of 16 families, and around a dozen different people from separate families got intestinal flu, including my nine-month-old son. Those families hadn’t spent time together or had contact, and my son ended up in hospital in Cavalese. When my husband asked at reception if it might have come from food, the lady said a sick girl had infected someone on the staff some time earlier, and some of them had been sick since. Why were they coming to work and infecting guests? During Saturday breakfast at the restaurant, another girl vomited on the wall in front of everyone. We had a positive impression at first, but never again.

We liked the pool and wellness area, as well as the comfortable beds and rooms. Breakfast and dinner were good too. It’s a welcoming hotel in South Tyrol, well located for mountain tours in the Alps and trips around the area.
