Albergo La Rosa

The restaurant’s hours were a problem for us. On Sunday it was completely closed, and after 9:30 PM on Saturday, nothing was available because the kitchen had shut. We made do with a packaged croissant, but on the August holiday weekend we were left hungry at 9:30, then spent the next two hours looking in vain for somewhere nearby that was open. During our three nights and four days, nobody cleaned the room or bathroom, changed towels, topped up shampoo or soap, or made the beds. The view was the neighboring supermarket’s garbage dump, where a machine compressed and baled waste from early morning until late at night, making a huge mess. The room had broken bedside tables, no refrigerator, a balcony door that wouldn’t close, and shutters stuck half open. The bathroom fan didn’t work, so after showering we had to leave the door open for air to circulate and dry things out. The bedroom and bathroom lighting was poor, with just a dim 20 cm LED bar in the bathroom. There was no hairdryer, though a stand was provided to put one away, and no clothes hanger. The shower slider and head were broken or defective. There was no room phone, either. Wi-Fi came and went, with the signal dropping after a few seconds.

The rooms were so old, dirty, and disgusting that I can’t see how this place got called a hotel. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, but after seeing the rooms, you can probably guess what the kitchen is like. I wouldn’t recommend staying here to anyone, even bikepackers with very low expectations.

For two nights, we had a room that was quite dirty, with a full waste bin and a broken toilet seat. The wardrobe had no coat hangers, and the shower was in a dilapidated state. Breakfast was just a croissant and cappuccino, not what I’d expect at a 3-star hotel. I hope ours was the worst room there.

We visited on March 9, 2024, and it was good to see the new management bringing fresh ideas and big plans. Lisa and Simone, the new owners, are friendly and highly competent, as is the rest of the staff. The restaurant has had an impeccable deep clean, and the rooms are clean and tidy. They’re fully renovating another floor, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the Neapolitan-style pizzeria develops. We’re happy to finally see management that feels innovative and high quality.
