Hotel Monte Turri by Falkensteiner

We stayed at Borgo Cala Moresca, but went to the Restaurant at Monte Turri twice because the rooftop was so beautiful and the food was so good. The view was absolutely breathtaking, and the atmosphere felt truly romantic.

We left as soon as we saw the room and are still trying to get our money back. The bathroom in the room we received was nothing like the one in our booking photos, and the room itself didn’t match what we’d reserved. When we showed the staff the confirmation pictures, they gave us a ridiculous excuse that the hotel wasn’t obliged to provide what was shown. We were entitled to a 50% refund under the cancellation policy, but they refused that too, so I’ve disputed the charge with my credit card company. I kept the photos and all our conversations. They even asked me to sign a release absolving them of future responsibility while offering no refund. I have copies of that document as well. There are several bad Google reviews, which I wish I’d read before booking. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had, a complete bait-and-switch. Do not stay here.

The views were so good they made up for the weaker parts of the stay. We had a great view from room 6, and the hotel is surrounded by nature and animals. There’s private parking and the location is excellent, with kind staff and access to a private beach on the rocks. The elevator wasn’t working, so getting down meant a 10-15 minute walk, and the uphill return took a bit longer. Breakfast was good, while dinner was just so-so. I know the reviews can be negative, but we seem to have been lucky with our room.

It feels like the property hasn’t been updated since the early 2000s, so anyone who cares about how things look should know it’s due for a renovation. Getting around is tricky too: stairs are everywhere and there are no ramps, which made hauling rolling suitcases a pain. It would’ve been nice if someone from staff had offered to help, but nobody did. The cliffs along the Orosei coast are stunning, breakfast is very solid, and a short drive down the hill gets you to lots of restaurants in town.
