Giardino dei Colori

We came home to Canada after three weeks at Residence Giardino Dei Colori, and I’m already thinking about returning, maybe next summer. It was our first trip to Lake Garda, and after a lot of research, I’m glad we chose this place. We wanted a central spot where we could explore both the north and south by ferry or bus without renting a car, plus an apartment where we could cook, a pool, air conditioning, a balcony, and a clean, attractive room. Residence Giardino Dei Colori checked every box, and each one deserved five stars. The holiday was perfect, and we knew right away we’d found somewhere special. The apartment had lovely French Provincial furnishings, and the air conditioning was quiet and handled the heat wave well. The washing machine, dishwasher, and refrigerator were excellent quality, too. The place works well for families and couples. Franca Dubbini deserves a special mention. She’s kind, calm, friendly, organized, competent, and capable. Her office is welcoming, like a room in a lovely home. Her father built the hotel, and it shows in the care put into it. Franca was quick to sort out a balcony repair after an overnight storm. Later, my husband accidentally left his knapsack at a restaurant in Salo. When we went back, it was gone, and our hotel key was inside. We felt bad calling Franca on WhatsApp after 11 pm, but she came cheerfully even though she was out. She was concerned about what we’d lost and didn’t make us feel bad. The next morning, she arranged for a repairman to replace the locks for our safety and the hotel’s. We know she could have charged around 300 euros, but she only charged us for the workers’ labor. We were very impressed and grateful. She also printed the ferry and bus schedules and showed us how to use them, planned our first trip to Riva, and arranged a taxi transfer to Venice. We only had to wait outside with our suitcases on departure day, and it all went smoothly. She even organized a rental car to be delivered to the hotel so we could visit the Dolomites. She’s efficient, capable, and cheerful. If we return to Lake Garda, we won’t need to search for a hotel again. We’ve found our perfect place.

After a demanding ride over the famous Stelvio and Gavia passes, having an apartment with direct pool access was just what we wanted. We could unwind in the evening, swim, and enjoy the quiet. A beautiful experience, and such a relaxing end to a day in the saddle. I’d happily recommend it.

There’s plenty of room to spend a peaceful day here, and the lake is close without being right on top of you. It’s a quiet, relaxing spot, great for families with little kids as well as adults. There’s a swimming pool, covered parking, and more, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Hard to put a place like this into words!

We’ve already stayed here twice and will definitely come back. The privately run complex is immaculate, with apartments in different sizes that suit couples and families. They’re spacious and nicely furnished, with everything needed to cook for yourself, including a washing machine, dishwasher, oven, fridge/freezer, air conditioning, and satellite TV. The large pool sits at the center of the complex and is lit with colored lights at night. You can leave your car in the underground garage. The lido, supermarkets, and the busy harbor piazza with its restaurants are all an easy walk away. Toscolano-Maderno is in a lovely spot on the west coast and works well as a base for excursions.
