Il Golfo Apartments Duplex 1

We were left choosing this place or ending our vacation early after our original accommodation was canceled the day before, supposedly because of a Booking error. We are still waiting for compensation from Booking. The town itself is lovely and easy to get around on foot, with restaurants, shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, bars, and the beach nearby. Ristorante Pizzeria Sant' Ercolano has excellent food, but you need a reservation. Gelateria Azzurra was delicious too. The apartment's location is very good, and it looks nice at first, but the photos set higher expectations. Bars nearby played loud music late into the night. From the ground-floor windows, you mostly see cars or the houses opposite. Inside, it was bright and had high ceilings, but the old ground-floor curtains and piles of dead flies were off-putting. The apartment was moldy, and the small bedroom had no dresser or other place to store clothes. It looked modern, yet the sofa was old and sagging, there was no coffee table, and the place felt cold and unwelcoming. The kitchen looked stylish but had only the bare essentials. The glass dining table was far too large for the apartment, and the vacuum cleaner was a disaster. We tried to make the best of it.

At night the place is very noisy, with constant sounds outside the windows from garbage collection, traffic, dogs, and people. There are no smoke detectors anywhere in the building. The location and amenities themselves are excellent.

The apartment was amazing, and the location was beautiful.

A nice apartment, though it could use some renovation.
