The food was amazing, and the flavors really stood out. Breakfast was the best we’ve had, with plenty of choice and everything kept replenished. After four days hiking a trail without road access or provisions, though, it was disappointing to find no snacks for sale apart from chocolate. Service was poor, with miserable staff, and we were herded into a cramped 12-bed dorm with no hanging space and smelly toilets and drains. There was so little toilet paper that it ran out before morning.

A waiter’s rude and passive-aggressive reaction overshadowed our stay. We picked up a sandwich to eat shortly afterward, and instead of a polite reminder, he said we’d be charged even if we ate it right away. His tone made us feel judged and unwelcome. When I tried to talk it through calmly, he wouldn’t respond politely and accused us of trying to steal food. He charged us 6 euros for it, which was unbelievable. A simple, kind explanation would have been enough, but we were treated with hostility. It ruined what might have been a pleasant stay. I can’t recommend this hotel to anyone who values respectful service, and we won’t return. I hope they train their personnel.

We stayed for one night while hiking in the dolomites, and they also offer dorm rooms. Dinner was great, but breakfast was amazing, the best we had on our trip.

A must-stop if you’re hiking the Alta Via 2. The gnocchi was perfect, the fresh food was delicious, and breakfast was the best we’ve had in Italy. Private rooms cost extra but are worth it, and the amenities are generous. This was the best accommodation of our trip, exactly what we needed!
