Radisson Collection Hotel, Roma Antica

We loved our three nights at the Radisson Collection Hotel, Roma Antica. The hotel is right in Rome’s historic center, with the main sights all within walking distance. Our room had a huge, beautiful terrace overlooking the Vittorio Emanuele II Monument (Altare della Patria), which made the stay even better. The rooftop restaurant is well known, and the views up there are breathtaking. Breakfast was excellent too. It really has everything a tourist needs for exploring ancient central Rome. We enjoyed the stay so much, and the staff welcomed us so warmly. Highly recommended!

We were only able to use the gorgeous rooftop when we first got to the hotel. A private event had booked it for that night, which was disappointing since it was one reason we chose the hotel and we only had two nights. I understand that they host events, but it wasn’t ideal for guests. The location is great and perfectly central. The front desk staff were nice and helpful, and it was nice to come back each day to the water and snack station. Breakfast was okay. I have celiac disease and asked about gluten-free bread or pastries. It took around 10 minutes to find some rolls, but I couldn’t use the butter or jam because they were in large shared tubs and could be cross-contaminated. For a hotel meant to be five stars, we were fairly disappointed. The room was as expected, but the AC wasn’t good. It only let us lower the temperature by three degrees from the hotel’s overall setting, and my husband couldn’t sleep the first night because it was too hot. Staff said they’d send maintenance, but when we checked back, they told us nobody from maintenance was working that day. They offered to have someone look the next day, but we were checking out then. They did confirm the thermostat worked, without saying whether the air was running. This was mid-May, and I can’t imagine how it feels in summer. At a five-star hotel, we should be able to set the AC to the temperature we want.

The rooms were spotless, and the service and cleanliness throughout were excellent. It was also very easy to get to the main attractions from this perfect location. The staff stood out most. They were friendly, professional, and generous, offering us a late checkout without any fuss. When we said we liked the hotel shampoo, they even gave us two extra bottles. That warm, thoughtful approach made us feel genuinely welcome. I had a wonderful stay and would definitely return. Highly recommended.

The team at the rooftop deserves a special mention. They looked after us so well and created a lovely atmosphere. The room was elegant, comfortable, and well equipped, and the staff were attentive and always available. Right in the heart of Rome, the hotel made it a pleasure to explore the city on foot, with the famous landmarks just a short walk away. We’re leaving with lovely memories and would gladly come back.
