The apartment is being renovated and has new furnishings, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. At night I found a cockroach in the bathroom. The owner offered to bring poison and seemed to think this was normal, saying one could find them in the street. I’ve been to Sicily before and hadn’t seen one. There are holes in the apartment, including one shown in the bathroom picture, which seem like easy hiding places for bugs. It made the trip disgusting and stressful, and I was afraid to use the bathroom at night. The neighborhood also made me uncomfortable. There are lots of vacant buildings nearby and unemployed men who look at you strangely. At night, people in other buildings shouted at us for no reason. There’s no air conditioning, so you have to open the windows to get air, and then mosquitoes come in. Screaming people and noisy seagulls woke me up. There wasn’t a mirror or kettle, and no bottle of water as a “welcome gift.” When I returned the keys and went to collect my luggage, the owner wouldn’t let me use the restroom, even though she had empty apartments for rent. I don’t recommend it.

We were there for just one night, and the place was spotless and practical. The welcome was impeccable, with lots of suggestions for seeing the surrounding area, and the location was excellent.

The hostess welcomed us warmly and was really helpful, sharing tips for the city and nearby places. We stayed three nights in a modern, practical room. The only downside was a bad smell from the bathroom, probably from the drains.

Marta was so kind and available, and checked us in at the time we’d agreed. The apartment is right in the historic center, close to restaurants, bars, and pizzerias.

Marta deserves a thank you. She’s kind, helpful, courteous, and patient, and whenever we needed help she was there right away. The apartments have been renovated. There can be logistical trouble with large luggage, and I’ve read that others mention it. The setting is central, in houses built in an old style where many people lived in a small space, so keep that in mind. For getting around, the location is ideal: you can walk to the city center, the port, and the ferry to the Egadi Islands. It’s also an easy walk to the AST bus for Trapani-Birgi Airport. Those are important points to consider.
