Domus Giuliae

Emilia gave us great suggestions for places to eat, and managed to find us a spot at a friend’s beach club on August 15, sparing us the crowds. She and Giulia welcomed us warmly. After our long motorcycle ride, they offered us coffee and water, showed us our room, and let us park the bike in the private gated area beside the property. We stayed two days in August at this lovely B&B. The room was cosy, and so was the whole atmosphere. Breakfast was generous and made with top-quality products. Lovely place, lovely people, and definitely worth recommending.

Domus Giuliae turned a last-minute scramble into a stay worth repeating. The B&B I’d booked 15 days earlier contacted me just three hours before arrival on August 13 to say only a room with a shared bathroom was available. I didn’t think even hostels still had shared bathrooms! They lost a guest, while Domus Giuliae gained two. Because we booked only three hours ahead, Emilia reserved one of the last rooms available, a small attic on the top floor. I’ve seen the other excellent rooms myself, and next time, if we book earlier, Mrs. Emilia will set aside the lovely first-floor room overlooking the inner courtyard. So do book early if you want a spacious, comfortable room. The location is great, just steps from the central square and close to amenities, with free parking right outside. Our room was clean and tidy, with daily housekeeping. Breakfast was average. One small point: the Nutella and honey aren’t served in single portions. Mrs. Emilia was thoughtful and attentive, and the stay was well worth recommending. It felt like a real escape, a short walk from the busy coast in August. The price was a bit high for the room we were assigned, though that was an emergency booking.

There’s a shared room with a microwave, a fridge with freezer, a pod coffee maker, and a washing machine. The staff were the best part, always helpful and ready to sort out guests’ needs, whether on site or remotely. The B&B is central and well served, with a supermarket, kiosk, pizzerias, bars, and other amenities nearby. Its location also works well for exploring the Etna villages, especially Mount Etna. I’d recommend it to families, solo travellers, or couples, and will definitely return.

The breakfast was excellent, and the staff were incredibly kind. My husband and I spent the weekend here and were really impressed. The property is lovely, welcoming, and clean.
