The kitchen was well equipped with a gas stove and washing machine, and it was a nice touch to find a bottle of wine, two small bottles of water, and ice in the freezer on arrival. The bathroom was clean, though the toilet seat was yellowed and the shower very cramped. The terrace had a lovely view, but we struggled to enjoy it because we constantly felt watched. The hosts’ grandmother lives next door, regularly looks over at the terrace, and walked through our terrace area to reach her garden several times. We understand the layout may make this convenient, but this wasn’t mentioned in the accommodation description and felt like a clear invasion of privacy. We had booked four nights but left after the first when we found mold on the apartment’s lower floor. As soon as we entered, there was a damp, musty smell, especially downstairs in the living room and kitchen, where the air felt much heavier. The humidity and mold made the stay unbearable. Our complaint was met with little empathy and no apology. We were told painters had already been hired to repaint the affected area. They also said they knew nothing about the problem, even though Booking.com already had a review with photos of the same moldy spot from August 2024. That didn’t seem genuine. The house can only be reached on foot along narrow, steep lanes. It’s about a five-minute walk from the parking lot, but the steep incline was very hard with our luggage and would be impossible for people with mobility issues. I fell and injured my knee. The stay was disappointing. The apartment has potential, but the mold, lack of privacy, and poor handling of a legitimate complaint were deal-breakers for us.
