The restaurant has a cozy, rustic feel, like a mountain cottage, and the seating was fine. The waiters were professional, and there were lots of seafood pasta options. We enjoyed the flavors and the cheese appetizers they brought us. It was a lovely experience at a traditional Italian restaurant near the Swiss border, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. I’m a shrimp lover, though, and would have liked a pasta dish with shrimp on its own, since I don’t like clams or mussels. All in all, it could be a nice chance to try something special from Italian cuisine.

We spent two nights here in January and had a great stay. There are lots of hiking trails just a mile from the hotel, and the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with superb food. We tried several things there that we hadn’t tasted before in Italy. We didn’t have a car, so the owner picked us up at the train station and saved us a 45-minute walk. He also dropped us off at the station when we left. He was extremely friendly and helpful.

The name La Crap may sound unassuming, but don’t let it put you off. My cousins from Sondrio were amazed to learn that the Italian name didn’t reflect what the place was like. The accommodation is top notch for a very reasonable price, with breathtaking views and outstanding local food at the restaurant. “Don’t judge a book by its cover” definitely applies here. If you’re going to Northern Italy, especially Sondrio in the Valtellina region, visit David, Lorenzo, and the team at La Crap. They’re sure to exceed your expectations. I’d give it 10 out of 5 if I could. Highly recommended!

We didn’t have a car, but the staff kindly picked us up. The rooms were new and really comfortable, and the restaurant was amazing, with great staff and some of the best food I had in Italy. It was packed on a Saturday night! The place sits up on a hill with great views. Perfecto!

The food was excellent and the service was the best. We had an amazing room with a jacuzzi, too. Everything was fantastic, and we’d love to come back someday. ❤️
