Borgo Del Gallo was a great base for our time in the "Heel of the Boot" of Italy. It's a small, family-run Bed & Breakfast that feels like stepping back in time. The father's handiwork and artistic touches are everywhere, giving the place a warm Italian feel. Laila, his daughter, made the stay memorable. She greeted us each morning with that day's breakfast, made with care and pride from garden-grown or locally sourced ingredients. It was delicious! We had windy weather and moonlit nights, and I got some nice photos of the main room's historical artifacts as well as a few night shots. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend Borgo Del Gallo.

For an authentic Salento stay, this family-owned place is special. Laila imagines a living masseria, with breakfasts made from organic homegrown ingredients and local produce. Each morning's food was a delight, and she carefully explained what made each item unique and where it came from. Everything was delicious. Laila also knows the local area well, so ask her for recommendations. I'd suggest staying at least seven days to explore at a relaxed pace.

We enjoyed our three days at Borgo del Gallo so much that we extended the stay twice. Laila is passionate about food and local places to visit, and her excellent English made our morning questions part of planning each day. Breakfast was a treat to look forward to every morning: homemade bread, local produce, homemade honey, fruit and Italian herbs, plus daily cake, biscuits and homemade jams. Exploring Laila's food creations was a highlight of our trip. Her family renovated the farmhouse in '98 and made it into this lovely B&B. Laila runs it, with her father and his small dogs helping behind the scenes. Southern Italy in June brought all kinds of experiences. There were lots of Italian holidaymakers, and thankfully we didn't hear any loud Europeans. We live in Sweden and often assume basic English is normal, but be ready to speak some 🇮🇹.

The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the garden and grounds were stunning. It was so peaceful under the old fig trees, watching bees, listening to the chickens and hearing the wind in the trees. The freshly prepared breakfast was the highlight, with both savory and sweet dishes that tasted incredible. Thank you, Laila, for the warm welcome and great service. We'll remember the food for a long time and would love to come again!

We spent five memorable days at Borgo del Gallo, and the calm atmosphere and comfortable sleep made it hard to leave. The garden was beautiful when we arrived, with such good taste in every detail. It was incredibly neat and clean, something photos just can't capture. Laila's sincere kindness and care made us feel more at peace and happy than we've felt on a trip before. Her breakfast was delicious, beautiful and full of flavor, made from unique local and organic ingredients, including things from the garden. She's an extremely talented chef, and her creations are worth tasting. Dear Laila, thank you again for your wonderful hospitality and the lovely little gift. We can't wait to enjoy that tasty jam over a happy weekend breakfast. Wishing you, your lovely family, and your sweetest little dogs Circe and Cannella lasting happiness, joy and good health. Love, Sahar and Michael
