The room was comfortable, clean and cool, with outdoor space, and the stay was good value for Salina. We were right beside the entrance gate, which is why I gave three stars, but it turned out to be a secluded, quiet place. The location is central and only a few minutes’ walk from the port, though the route is slightly uphill. A paid transfer is available, but I don’t think it’s needed if you have light luggage. The staff were notably courteous and kind.

The location is excellent, close to the port and main street, and Mariapia is very kind and willing to help with every need. The apartment needs renovation. It was moldy, had an unbearable smell, and we slept with the door open because there are no windows. The only window faces the breakfast area, which is disturbing. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable, the closet couldn’t be used and smelled musty, and cleanliness could be better. The courtyard view is basically the wall of the house opposite. Breakfast was good, though I’d have liked more seasonal fresh fruit instead of just apples, pears and bananas, as well as fresh bread and fresh croissants that weren’t packaged.

It’s informal rather than deluxe, but it has real charm. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the upper floors have a wonderful view.
