Residence Victoria

The buffet breakfast was average, and the hotel was nice enough. We were put in an apartment a couple of doors down. It looked clean and nice when we arrived, but the kitchen bin still had the previous occupants’ McDonald's remains in it. Our room wasn’t serviced during the three days we stayed. When we asked, we were told we hadn’t paid for that. I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world, and that shocked me. Before coming to Trieste, we’d stayed in two budget hotels where room cleaning was included in the room charge. Both cost a lot less than Hotel Victoria.

Apart from the heat, it was a very comfortable stay. The room was warm, and the air con didn’t do much to cool it down. The windows were too noisy to leave open, so the hotel could do with more effective systems in the rooms. The staff were friendly, the breakfast was great, and the hotel itself is lovely. An English language TV channel would be nice too, since Netflix and other streaming services don’t work on the TV.

The hotel and rooms were spotless, very clean, and well maintained, and the location was excellent. My one complaint was the lack of aircon. They brought a fan when I asked, but it didn’t do much and took away from an otherwise excellent stay.

We were there on a cycling trip and could store our bikes securely in the hotel’s private garage. The rooms were really nice and quiet. Great hotel.
