B&B Angelina

We were relieved to find another B&B and get out of there. The place was dirty and everything looked extremely worn. The photos were nothing like what we saw in person, and the kitchen shown on the profile simply wasn’t there. I’d been looking forward to making coffee. I’ve never stayed in a B&B where the owner controls the air conditioning. We had to text her through the night asking her to turn it on, and she only replied in the morning, saying she’d just seen the messages after waking up. It’s crazy. Thankfully our lungs and hearts were healthy, because this could have sent someone to the hospital. Definitely don’t stay here.

We’d booked three rooms for 11 days, but left after 3-5 because the accommodations were unacceptable. I feel we should be reimbursed since the actual rules weren’t disclosed. We couldn’t wait to be gone. She shouldn’t be running a B&B this way and needs to shut down. The place didn’t feel welcoming, and we felt isolated in our rooms. There were cameras everywhere, watching our movements. The owner controls the AC from her phone and turns it off when we leave, usually after only a couple of hours. When we came back, the rooms were unbearably hot. I messaged three or four times in the middle of the night, but didn’t hear back until after 7:00 in the morning, when it suited her. Glad she was sleeping comfortably. Unacceptable. She was rude to my family before I arrived, and rude to me too. Even my driver said something about her attitude. She talks to you like you’re two years old. The towels and sheets were stained, the floors were dirty and scratched, and the kitchen in the pictures was nowhere to be found. The common area wasn’t welcoming either. There was a mirror in one bathroom that I couldn’t use because it wasn’t positioned for shorter people. I’ve stayed at other B&Bs and never had an experience set up like this. What are we, kids? Don’t book this place. Read the other reviews, because I’m not the only one. She responds to people with the same kind of ignorance. Look at the owner’s comment on my review. She had no explanation for her unprofessional response, just more rudeness.

This was our first B&B stay, and we had a terrible time. We’d booked two rooms for five days this September, and were excited because we’d learned Angelina had a connection to a family friend in Canada. If we hadn’t paid in full, we would have left after the first day. The rooms stayed above 30 degrees every night. She said she’d turn on the AC during the day so they’d be cool at night, but we called and texted her at 3:00am each night and got no response. A few nights she turned it on for a couple of hours, then switched it off. There were other problems too: one roll of toilet paper per couple, shared water bottles only half full, stained and rough towels, a broken bathroom light switch, empty bottles on the counter where hand soap and shampoo should be, and a broken towel rack in our friends’ bathroom. With so many other places to choose from, I wouldn’t recommend this B&B.

We had a really comfortable stay, with spacious rooms, big beds, a lovely balcony, and a nice shower. The bathroom had a very unusual double sink. Everything was very clean and quiet, and the host was helpful and clearly cares about the place. Parking was easy, and San Giorgio beach near Bari is close by. There’s also a wonderful cafe Chantal next door. If you’re traveling with extended family, you can ask for the annex room, for an extra fee of course. You can also rent monthly in the quieter months, from October to May. Kudos to Angelina, she’s a great host. It’s a lovely place to stay.
