Hotel Locanda Ca Masieri

A quiet, family-run place, surrounded by green countryside, with a little wood behind it that's nice for a walk. It's very close to an old villa and a swimming pool. One of the quietest places I've ever stayed. Everything is looked after with care and love.

The staff were great, friendly and ready to help. They went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable and enjoyed my stay.

The staff were very nice, but the price felt far too high for what was really a low-cost B&B service sold as a 3-star hotel. We were charged like it was a 3-4 star city hotel, while the services felt clearly low-cost. The rooms have been freshly renovated in an attractive 70s style, but it isn't practical. They're almost completely dark even in daytime because of tiny medieval-style windows covered with iron, so you always need artificial light. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone with claustrophobia. There were other oddities too, like a wardrobe you couldn't open because a table blocked it. No kettle in the room for making tea either. In the bathroom, the ventilation didn't work properly, the shower is awkwardly placed and turns the room into a sauna after a minute, and the sink is blocked by a door. Someone tall or large, or with limited mobility, might struggle to use it. Breakfast was a disaster: cheap, low-quality, long-life products, mostly the typical Italian coffee and biscuit, maybe one kind of croissant. For a salty or European breakfast, the only choices were cherry tomatoes, some half rotten, exactly 4 slices of ham, 4 slices of cheese, and 4 eggs. They vanished within seconds, so you had to ask the kitchen to refill them. There was just one small roll on the buffet, meant to be cut into portions like a loaf or baguette, and I honestly didn't know what to do with it. They also left gadgets like the egg counters on the buffet even though they were rotten and didn't work. The staff knew they'd been broken for a long time and kept them there anyway. Then there was the dining room coffee tray, straight out of an art-house film or Monty Python: a framed wall picture, paper side down, with the cups sitting on the glass. How do they even wash that tray? Do they wash it at all? I appreciate artistic creativity, but hygiene comes first :) There's plenty of open space, but almost no upkeep around the hotel. There isn't a garden or terrace to sit outside, and the pool area is small and only open in summer.
