Clauiano made a great base for exploring southern Friuli. Trieste and Pordenone, Gorizia and Udine, Cividale and the beaches at Grado are all within about an hour, and there’s plenty to see. We stayed a week, our first time in Friuli, and left with a little piece of our hearts in the attic. Valentina and Roberto are genuinely wonderful people, rare to come across, and the farmhouse gives you that feeling of welcome as soon as you walk in. It’s a 16th-century building, furnished with old furniture and farming tools in a way that feels thoughtful and warm, not artificial. Breakfast was generous, with sweet and savory things, fruit and yogurt, and when the weather allowed, we ate in the courtyard. Parking is inside the courtyard. A+ all around. We only spent two days here, and already miss it. Two couples shared the two large rooms in this charming home, full of history and family stories. Breakfasts made by Valentina were delicious, and we loved hearing about the family and local history while sharing the peaceful, happy atmosphere. The house and courtyard have lots of interesting objects, the rooms were spotlessly clean, and the village was quiet and calm. Valentina and Roberto were generous hosts. If we’re back in the area, we’ll definitely stay again.

The rooms are bright, spacious, and furnished with good taste. We stayed with our children and my husband in this beautiful home, where everything seems made with care and love. The garden and courtyard, where breakfast was served, are beautifully maintained, with flowers and restored old farm tools. The owner’s hospitality and thoughtful breakfast added to the feeling of serenity and personal care in every detail. We had a wonderful stay and will certainly return.

The fenced lawn was a real treat for Balto, who could run around there. My husband, our dog, and I stayed a week, and we had a wonderful time. Our attic was huge, with an equally enormous bathroom and a dressing room beside it. The furnishings are carefully done and really reflect the owners’ personalities. They’re pleasant and discreet, but attentive and happy to suggest places to see and eat in this unfamiliar, beautiful region. Daily cleaning was great, and breakfast had excellent homemade cakes plus anything else we wanted. We’ll be back and would recommend it to everyone. Thanks, Valentina and Roberto.
