Case Vacanze Mare Grande

I never even made it to the property, but the booking process was awful. I reserved through the residence’s own website and paid the requested deposit. Then the person in charge called, seemed not to understand that the deposit was one they had asked for, and was extremely rude. In the end, he said he wouldn’t accept my reservation. I followed the steps they gave me, but they didn’t seem to know their own process and tried to charge more than the amount shown in the listing.

Our stay at Case Vacanze Mare Grande was a terrible experience. The owner took our deposit, then acted as though he didn’t know what his own website said. When we went to Tropea and looked around the place out of curiosity, it was nothing like the pictures: dirty, poorly maintained, and very disappointing. We felt misled and wouldn’t recommend it. Be careful before booking.

The location is definitely excellent, which is why I gave it two stars. The room was terrible. The dusty, dirty AC and bed linens made me sick, and every day I just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Salty water came from both the shower and sink, with such a disgusting taste that I didn’t want to brush my teeth with it. The WiFi didn’t work at all. At night, it seemed like nobody was working there, and our neighbors ignored quiet hours, drinking and blasting music until 3 a.m. Without that location, I don’t think this place would still be open.

There was no internet in the rooms, and no phone reception either. The owners were rude and seemed to look for ways to rip you off. They wanted to charge $70 for an umbrella for two hours. There was also a gap between the window and ceiling, so the room filled with mosquitoes. When I raised it, the owner said I just liked complaining and that I was the first person to mention mosquitoes. Never again.
