Residenza Burmaria

Gina was a pleasure, and each morning she put out a delicious homemade breakfast in the B&B hallway. There were cakes, cookies, eggplant parm, zucchini blossoms fritters, cornettos, cheese, meats, and toast, with cookies and water available from the fridge through the day. She also sent clear arrival and parking instructions beforehand. The rooms are on the 3rd floor, 4th by American counting, and there’s no elevator. We could walk to the beach and to the stairs up to Tropea old town, which are 195 steps. Each room has a beach umbrella, and we used ours at the free beach, Spiaggia Rotondo. MYC Yacht Club across the street at the marina was a good option when we didn’t want to head into town. Our room was comfortable, the bathroom was a decent size, the water pressure was good, the air conditioner kept up with the heatwave, and the internet worked well.

Gina, the owner, was incredibly kind and always available. The B&B was spotless and just steps from Tropea's port. We stayed for two nights, and the free covered parking was a real plus since we could leave the car and explore on foot. When we're back in the area, we'll stay at the Burmaria residence again. The location was fairly central, around a 20 minute walk from the historic center and within walking distance of Rotonda beach. Mrs. Gentile also gave us suggestions for places to eat and things to see, but a lot of inconveniences made my time in Tropea less enjoyable. The room was spacious, though it had no balcony or window. Breakfast was shared in the apartment hallway with the other two rooms, where the coffee machine, cutlery, glasses, and food were left for everyone to use. I found that unhygienic. Nearly everything was packaged, including all the MD products, apart from Pavesini biscuits and Mulino Bianco biscuits. There was no screen on the window, and the room faced overgrown land, so mosquitoes, midges, and other insects could get in. On the first day it wasn't cleaned because we left at 10:55 a.m., even though the paper on the desk says cleaning is from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. when the room is free. I had to use the same towels for three days since they’re changed every three days. Then, on the third evening after the beach, there were no towels in the room, clean or dirty. I called, and she had forgotten to put them out. I had to wait for her to bring them before I could wash. The showerhead was leaking when I arrived, so I asked for the pipe to be replaced. Fortunately, that was done that day. It's on the third floor with no elevator. There’s only one covered parking space for three rooms, so if it’s taken, the car has to stay in the sun.

Mrs. Gina and her husband were so kind, and even their messages showed how much they care about guests. The B&B was really clean, and our room had a lovely balcony facing the park. Its spot was excellent, close to the beach and Tropea Rotonda, with the historic center a short walk away, though there are stairs to climb. Parking worked out well too, so we got around on foot. Breakfast was generous, with both sweet and savory things, and Mrs. Gina even let us try something spicy. We had a wonderful stay, though it was a shame we only had one night at B&B Burmaria. I hope to return to Tropea and stay at Residenza Burmaria without hesitation. Thanks for everything, see you next time ❤️❤️❤️
