Hotel Villa Antica

The building is old, so the windows are small and most views look inward onto the courtyard. Still, the rooms are clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated in an eclectic style. The courtyard breakfast is lovely, and the fresh coffee is delicious. Friendly staff, good value, and a very convenient location. Thank you Villa Antica.

The staff were lovely, but I wouldn’t stay here again. Breakfast was very average, and the room was a real disappointment. The mattress was so old and soft that I sank into it like a cocoon, while the hard middle of the bed kept rolling me back into that dip.

Parking is very difficult because you can’t bring your car out front, but the location is unbeatable. You really can’t do better. The rooms are very traditional, though honestly they do the job.

The breakfast and cleaning staff were lovely, but the woman who checked us in wasn’t. We were put in a room facing the main road, and when I asked whether another room was available because of the noise, they said they’d check the next day. We were never moved, and staff avoided us a lot during the week. I think we got the worst room, and it was frustrating to pay the same as other guests for a smaller, less comfortable stay. The photos don’t show what the rooms really look like. A lot of the old furniture smelled of mould, the minibar fridge barely cooled anything, and the drinks felt warm. The shower pressure was very weak, and the water stayed lukewarm. Other rooms seemed to have outdoor seating, while ours was beside the entrance with no quiet place outside. In a seaside town, drying racks would have helped, but we had nowhere to hang clothes outdoors and had to put wet things in the shower room. Our door opened straight onto reception and the main entrance, so having no private area made us uncomfortable at times. We couldn’t open the window without people on the Main Street seeing into the room, which left us feeling that our safety and comfort weren’t a priority. The hairdryer barely worked and smelled like burning. The area is nice and close to the rest of town, but I don’t understand how this is a 4 star hotel, it felt more like 1 star.
