Hotel Chelsea

The location is great, and the hotel still has charm despite feeling a little dated. The beds were comfortable, and the restaurant next door was excellent. It also serves breakfast in the morning. Check-in was slow and convoluted, maybe there were new staff. The real problem was the mail. I emailed ahead to ask whether a letter could be sent there and was told they’d hold it, but when we arrived they said they had no address and didn’t accept mail. Three letters had already been returned, including my football tickets for that night. Being told to chase the return or ask local post offices was surreal. The hotel has an address and seems to have been operating for over ten years, so the whole thing soured my experience. The decor and mail handling could both use an upgrade.

The owner was really nice and helpful, and the atmosphere was pleasant. It’s very clean, too. Even though you’re right in the centre, only a few steps from Piazza Castello, it stays quiet at night. I highly recommend it.

The room was large and quiet, and the staff were efficient and helpful. The hotel restaurant’s Puglia cuisine was very good, and both breakfast and WiFi were good as well. It’s also well placed for the central market, duomo, Holy Shroud church and other sights. One thing, though: there was no safe in the room, despite what was written.

You can walk to the main tourist sights in just a few minutes, which makes this a great base for visiting Turin. The rooms were clean, breakfast was delicious, and the staff were helpful.
