Hotel Orchidea

The staff were friendly, and being so close to the main train station suited me for a one-night stay. But the heater wasn't working, so it got cold at night, and breakfast options were limited.

We found it good value, with a great breakfast and kind, helpful staff. The lift was handy for luggage and a stroller, and there was secure private parking inside the building for 15EUR per day plus tax. Families can book a quadruple room. Communication was easy in English, French, Mandarin, or Italian. Late checkout until 13.30 instead of 10.00 was possible for 10EUR per room. Highly recommended!

The room was tight but just about adequate, and the shower cubicle really was a cubicle. I chose this hotel for its quiet street near the train station, away from the touristy area and with several restaurants around, but it was anything but quiet. A group of children aged 10 to 12 were shouting and banging doors at 2:30, and I had to call reception twice because they didn't know how to handle it. I first thought it was just bad luck, but seeing rooms with bunk beds or three beds lined up made me think they probably cater to groups like this and don't worry about other guests' comfort. After the children left, staff were shouting to each other across the stairwell in the morning, like they were in a market. Unless you're travelling with a group of children, stay away.

The room was clean and spacious, and the beds were comfortable. Staff were friendly, and both the train and bus stations were within walking distance.
