The local food is some of the tastiest in Italian traditional cuisine. This is a lovely place for evening drinks or a few days away, in a recently renewed old town with loads of character. The views stretch over the landscape towards the Ionian coast. Highly recommended.

A local friend pointed us here, so we came for dinner. The setting is stunning and very well kept. The food was good, and the wine list was even better. Such a lovely surprise.

Rabatana itself was deserted, though the views were beautiful. There was dog mess and some rubbish around, which really needs cleaning up. We’d gone out of our way to visit Rabatana and Tursi and were counting on lunch here, but it was closed on Monday. We’d checked the site and wish the closure had been mentioned there, since it was frustrating. The pizzeria next door was shut too. More than an hour later, we ended up finding a great place to eat in Matera, la bruschetta. Such a pity.

This old town has a lot of history and an amazing view. Definitely worth a visit, and I’d recommend it to everyone.

The food was great, the place was beautiful, and the owner is a charming poet.
