Albergo Ristorante La Campagnola

The staff made us feel welcome right away, and the chef deserves a compliment because the food was delicious. Portions are generous and the prices are great value. A good fit for a romantic dinner or a business lunch or dinner, especially if you're after authentic food.

The grounds are lovely, especially the pond and portico, and I hope Paolo can finish fixing everything else while renovations and expansion continue. Getting to our rooms meant going around the back through the work area, but it wasn't a big issue. Our room was clean and we slept well; it looked a little dated, though that didn't bother us. Paolo was incredibly friendly, and we had a great time eating delicious, hearty home-cooked food. We should support local restaurateurs and understand the difficulties they're facing.

At €80, this stay should have been much better. For €50, I might have found it acceptable, but at that price it was shameful. We booked one night, and reaching the room meant driving through a construction site. The staff there would close it for safety reasons, though the place was being renovated. The room was bare and dirty, the heating didn't work, and there were no spare blankets. The hairdryer was in the only bedside table because it had come loose from the wall, and it didn't work. The bathroom was dirty, there was no bidet, and the toilet hadn't been cleaned around its base. At 6:00 AM, it felt like being at the central station. No one peed in the shower. I was with my partner, not a 20-year-old. I'm sorry I didn't take photos to back up what I described.
