The room is spacious and solidly furnished, though the old-fashioned style matches the dated building. It's well maintained and in an excellent location, but finding it is hard because there are no signs or markings. Being upstairs in an old building could also be difficult if you have limited mobility, something the booking sites don't mention. Once you arrive, the host leaves and you're mostly on your own. They give you a number for emergencies, but it's 25km away, so not much use. There's no kettle or mini-fridge in the room either. The price feels a little high for what's provided, since you're mainly paying for the location.

From the double room window, you can look out at the square and the Doge's Palace, right across the street. This B&B is in an old building in the city center, so the furnishings are nothing fancy. There are quite a few steps, and at night the lights can be hard to find when you come back. I hope to try the simple, home-style breakfast tomorrow. Recommended for a city visit.

Breakfast is mostly cake, and the staff are very friendly. This old Urbino building has an unusual layout, with a few too many steps for some tastes. The decor may not suit everyone either, and my room had a low futon-like bed. Its position is hard to beat, practically opposite the entrance to the Ducal Palace and the Duomo. I came away positive overall.

A sign by the door would make arrivals after dark much easier. The room was decent, though nothing exceptional, and breakfast was about the same. Still, the location across from the Doge's Palace is excellent.

Getting into the old center is easier if you use the elevator from the Il Mercatale parking lot. It costs 0.50 e. and takes you right to the center without the long climb. Parking is available outside or underground for a modest fee, and you pay only for the time you actually park. There's a tourist information office in the square, where they give plenty of helpful information. The kind owner of "Il Cortegiano" does his best to stop guests' cars passing through the camera monitored gate, so they won't be fined by the Municipality. You can unload luggage in front of the B&B first. "Il Cortegiano" is on the first floor of a 16th-century building in the historic center of charming URBINO, with views of the square, Palazzo del Duca di MONTEFELTRO, and the cathedral. The rooms are spacious and modern, with exotic touches and art and culture that suit the bright, fresh air of the two hills where URBINO sits. This lovely medieval city, birthplace of RAPHAEL, is well worth visiting. Its old fortress, important churches with "oratories," and steep, winding streets make for a satisfying trip. It's also just 40/50 km from the Adriatic beaches, and the historic local cuisine is a treat.
