Hotel Miravalle

The hotel looks quite nice after its recent renovation, but our six-night stay was a disaster. On the first evening they wouldn’t give me a wine glass to take to my room. The room was cold on four of the six nights because the heat wasn’t working. When I reported it, they told me it was working, as if I were stupid. Dinner took more than an hour to arrive. Breakfast was very poor too. When checking out, I asked reception how much I owed for restaurant charges over the six days. The amount seemed too high, so I politely asked to see the bills. The older German-speaking man at reception became extremely angry, even aggressive, and handed me bills for every room over the whole week, telling me to find mine. I didn’t try to sort through them. I paid and left. I won’t stay here again. On checkout morning, the cleaner came into our room at 7:30, walked near the bed and asked when we were leaving. Between 7:30 and 10, when we finally left, she came into the room four more times. It was a terrible experience, and we definitely won’t return.

I stopped for coffee and a croissant while riding back from a bike tour. The atmosphere and service were great, and the view is something else. I’ll come back for dinner.

The hotel has a great restaurant and a surprising wine selection. It’s right in the city center on the main road, easy to reach, with public and private parking. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and our view over the valley was lovely. Prices are in line with other places.

Lovely service and delicious food. We asked for a sauce that wasn’t on the menu, and they made us a really good homemade version just for us. 6/5!
