We had a really good stay in this new chalet. There are two bedrooms, and the sofa converts easily into another bed. The mattresses are a little hard, but we slept well. It’s built with lots of wood, heated by a wood stove with gas heating as well, and has a nice view over the valley. There’s private parking and separate storage for skis and boots. It’s close to bormio3000, santa catharina and san boromeo, and there’s a small village shop nearby with inexpensive bread, eggs, milk and other breakfast things. The older man who owns the shop is very friendly. The chalet owner was super friendly and helpful too.

The apartment, called Ciervo and managed by EnjoyBormio, was clean and in good condition. But it was tiny, under 30 square meters, and although listed for four people, I was glad there were only two of us. It felt like a ground-floor unit and got hardly any light. There were three terraces listed, but only one was semi-private; the other two were open to public access. The kitchen had very little space and equipment. Supplies were minimal too: two small shower gel bottles, two toilet rolls and one bottle of dish soap. Later we stayed in another holiday apartment and were welcomed with prosecco and crostata from the best pastry shop in Bormio. I don’t recommend this place.

The apartment itself is nice, but it’s so far from the lifts that the price doesn’t feel worthwhile. I booked because the listing claimed ski-in/ski-out access. Maybe that was true back in the 1980s, when snow often came down to the village.

It was a real pleasure to stay in this beautiful apartment, where every detail has been considered. The place is quiet and comfortable, very close to Bormio, and the owner is incredibly kind and helpful. I recommend it to everyone.
