Hotel Bijou

We really enjoyed our stay. Everything was clean and comfortable, and the staff were so friendly. We’d be happy to come back.

The food included for breakfast and dinner wasn’t very varied, and it didn’t have much of the classic Italian taste. Still, it was good for the price. The pasta and pizza were quite bad. The hotel itself is cozy, nice and comfortable. There are rooms with tables where you can sit outside your room with friends, and the ski room keeps your skis and boots warm. Staff were polite and helpful. At the restaurant, a Romanian woman was especially attentive to detail and served us very well. Free parking is available in the big lot right outside, and the hotel’s van provides free rides to and from the nearest ski lift whenever needed.

We didn’t stay at the hotel, but had the loveliest dinners there three nights during our week in Paquier. The atmosphere was great, the staff were so friendly, and the food was delicious. There’s a changing daily menu, simple but tasty, served in the traditional Italian order: sometimes an aperitivo, then bread and grissini, salad bar, primi piatti, secondi piatti and dessert. You get three choices for both primi and secondi, including a vegetarian option, and five desserts. The whole menu was 20€ per person, which was incomparable with other places in the village. Those were much more expensive and didn’t taste, serve or feel any better than Hotel Ristorante Bijou. The wines and cocktails were also nice and affordable. I recommend the local Negroni and the Valdostana, though I’m not sure I’ve got the name right. It has orange juice, lemon soda and genepy in it. The staff were accommodating too. We asked for some cheese and meat with our drinks before dinner, and they happily brought some over. If there are leftovers, they come around to see if anyone wants another portion. We felt very welcome and look forward to returning, maybe to stay at the hotel as well. Our dog could come along, and I saw there’s a shuttle bus to the Valtournenche Cime Bianche gondola. I recommend everyone try it.
