Country Hotel Castelbarco

If you have a serious pet allergy, think twice about staying here. There were several dogs around, sometimes in the restaurant, and I had breathing problems in my room. My reaction started right away, so I suspected a dog had been in the room before. I’m very sensitive, and I understand contamination can take months to clear. The hotel itself was nice enough. The food was good and the staff were helpful, though breakfast was average.

The restaurant was the highlight for us, and breakfast was generous and served until 10am, which was great for a lie-in. We stayed here in winter before, too, and after a cold day out, the beautiful sauna was just the thing to warm up and relax. The place was super clean and cozy, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful. Great food and a relaxed feel, we’d totally recommend it. Forget about big garage with electric charging and elevator!

We were frustrated by the rigid 2 PM check-in. We arrived several hours early and had to wait, even though the hotel seemed half empty. We understand sticking to check-in times when the hotel is full, but a bit of flexibility would have let us settle in sooner. The rooms are spacious, updated, and comfortable. With forests around it, the setting is peaceful, and the location beside historic Castelbarco Villa and near the UNESCO World Heritage site of Crespi d'Adda makes it a good spot for cultural visits.

Everyone was friendly, and my room was cleaned very well each day. The rooms were a good size and warm, which made Hotel Castelbarco a great stay for a business trip. The restaurant had some delicious dishes, too. In winter, with construction going on, the countryside can feel a bit bleak, though I imagine it’s quite beautiful in summer.
