The surroundings are gorgeous, only a few minutes from Varese Ligure, and a great fit if you’re into hiking, biking, or just being outdoors. The food is excellent, and Mamma, Papa' and their son are genuinely lovely people. Updated November 24, 2025: It now seems to be closed. The website linked on Google Maps is wrong and takes you to a pizzeria near Padua.
We had a great stay, and breakfast was a treat: scrambled eggs, homemade yoghurt and apricot jam, plus delicious fresh figs from their own trees. Nothing like those packaged dry biscuits.
The view and setting are beautiful, and the food is amazing. They can also make food for vegetarians and vegans if you ask. Everyone was super friendly, definitely worth a visit.
The meal alone makes L'Origano worth seeking out. We ordered four different dishes for each course, sharing an appetizer, first course and second course among the four of us. Everything was high quality, locally sourced and full of authentic flavor. The mushroom first course and stuffed eggplant stood out, especially with the chef's Puglian roots. It's also somewhere I'd happily stay. The farmhouse is easy to get to, tucked into green countryside with a bucolic feel and no light pollution. A lovely spot for dinner and a chance to find some inner peace.
The owner was incredibly kind, and the place itself is a relaxing green oasis surrounded by nature. For €30 each, we had an appetizer, first course, second course and dessert, with drinks included, which felt like really good value. The food was excellent, especially the fried sage, eggplant parmigiana and chicken sliced and cooked like rabbit. We also enjoyed the red wine by the glass and all three liqueurs, nocino, amaretto and mandarin. We highly recommend it.
