We didn't stay overnight, so please disregard my average rating for the rooms. The restaurant was lovely, with fresh food and very friendly service. At lunch we sat outside under a sun canopy, surrounded by the dizzying smell of jasmine. The orriachetti with saffron and courgette flowers was rich and full of flavor, and the fresh raspberry coulis was perfect with the soft, wobbly pannacotta. Dinner was indoors in a dining room that was refreshingly cool. The wine kept flowing, and we ended up competing over the tiramisu.

The family-run hotel feels wonderfully authentic, and the staff were attentive and friendly. I ate at the restaurant and really enjoyed it. I especially liked the thoughtful touch of having the soup brought to the table separately from its bowl.

The handmade croxetti pasta and unusual menu items make this a real find for authentic Ligurian cooking. Everything is prepared with care, and the lovely staff serve it. Delicious! A walk around the small old town is a nice way to work up an appetite or walk off lunch.

Our room was simple but clean, and had both air conditioning and a balcony. When there was a problem with our booking, the hotel staff were very kind and happy to help. It's a very nice hotel on the main street of a wonderfully authentic little Italian village.

We stopped for lunch in Varese Ligure and had excellent, authentic Ligurian food. The hosts were attentive, and there was a good selection of wines. It's a great place to detour to while taking in Liguria's beautiful landscape.
