B&B Villa Adriana

My husband and I stayed in the house for two nights for a wedding nearby. The hosts were very welcoming and nice, but I really recommend avoiding the place. It looked nothing like the photos. The house was very old and not very clean, with dirty moquette and a bad smell. It didn't feel cozy at all, and I found it a bit creepy. The worst part came after we got home: I went to the pharmacy with a rash, and was told it came from BED BUGS!!!

The host was so friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to make sure I had what I needed. My room was clean, cozy, and comfortable, and even had a washing machine. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a warm welcome.

We only planned a side trip to Varese, then decided on the spot to stay at "Villa Adriana". The villa had so much charm, and the staff and rooms made such a good first impression that we added another night right away. Everything was very clean, and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was enough for us. Some things are a little old, but that’s part of the place’s character. We once stayed at a Belle Epoque four-star hotel that cost almost three times as much and didn’t come close. Definitely recommend it.

The only thing we regretted was not being able to stay longer than two nights, since we hadn’t booked ahead. We had a lovely time at Villa Adriana, and even arrived without a reservation, which wasn’t a problem. After we got lost in Varese near the Villa Panza museum, the owner immediately offered to come get us and lead us to her villa. We agreed on 70 euros, including breakfast, for a fairly small double room with a good bathroom. The villa and room were clean, cosy, pleasant and luxurious, and the garden around the three-storey building was lovely and quiet. The owner was kind and did her best to help us. We thought it was a good deal for the quality and service, and would have felt the same even at a higher price. Sure, you could ask for better coffee, a larger bedroom, newer garden chairs, or someone who speaks English or another language besides Italian. But we couldn’t understand the furious one-star review we’d seen about this place and its owner. We warmly recommend staying here, and also the Italian restaurant down the street near the villa. It was the best restaurant we found on our whole trip in Italy. Thank you again, Adriana. See you!
