Hotel Al Pian

The pizza was one of the best I've ever had, right up there with dedicated gluten-free pizza places in Naples. I'm coeliac and follow a strict gluten-free diet, and after I messaged ahead to ask about breakfast and pizza, the host said he'd see what he could do. He had bread and biscuits ready for me and even made a gluten-free pizza without cross-contamination. I can't promise those options will always be available, as there weren't many guests when we visited, but it may be worth asking. We stayed two nights to explore the region. The hotel is a bit far from the city, but worth the trip, with very clean, comfortable rooms and an amazing welcome at reception. We don't speak Italian well, so the host was fairly quiet, but readily available whenever we needed anything. Highly recommended!

It's about ten minutes from Lake Caldonazzo, and the setting is great for relaxing or getting out into nature. There's a large panoramic sun terrace, a welcoming bar, and outdoor tables and benches. The food is excellent, and the pizzeria can prepare menus for guests with allergies or intolerances if asked. The owners have run the place for generations, and their kind, thoughtful care for guests comes with an easy, discreet familiarity. It really captures the spirit of Trentino hospitality. A place I'd return to.

The pizza was excellent, and breakfast was far better than I'd expect from a three-star hotel. The staff were capable and extremely helpful. The hotel is in an old building, but it's very well maintained, and the recently renovated rooms were spotless, cleaner than anywhere I've stayed before. When everything goes smoothly, there isn't always much to say, but this stay deserved a few words.
